Meet Wendy

One of my many passions is working with those who struggle with toxic relationships and codependency. My experiences also encompass working with those who struggle with trauma,  anxiety, depression, and grief and loss. I believe that your sessions should provide you with a safe place for sharing and addressing your challenges in a productive manner. Therefore, I give every effort in providing you with an opportunity for hope and healing.

I am a Christian and my counseling style is guided by my beliefs. I am am EMDRIA EMDR Approved Therapist.  I also work from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy approach. I believe in approaching counseling from holistic view - incorporating your emotional, mental, physical, social and spiritual self into the sessions.

In 1992, I received my BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating from Chapel Hill, my life journey included becoming a wife, a social worker, a business owner and then a mother. At the age of 40, I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in counseling. In December of 2013, I received my MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University at Lynchburg, VA. I am also a trained and certified facilitator for PREPARE/ENRICH, a program dedicated to helping couples explore and strengthen their relationships.

Outside of the counseling practice, I am a wife and a mother of two children. Wilmington has been my home since 1992 which is a good thing as I am a "water" person! I enjoy being out on the water with my family and can usually be found with my nose in a book.

Now that you know a little bit about me, I look forward to learning more about you. I believe that in order for you to heal and grow, you have an important role to play in your sessions with me. Together, we will work to establish your personal goals towards living your life with a healthy outlook and a hopeful future.

Blessings ~ Wendy
